Newspaper

The Mirror is published weekly on Wednesdays. This community newspaper's circulation is 2,400 copies. It is the official newspaper for the city of Tonganoxie, as well as Leavenworth County. The newspaper provides coverage of southern Leavenworth County and the entire U.S. Highway 24-40 corridor that connects Tonganoxie with Kansas City. The Mirror and its staff have received numerous state and national press association awards. An electronic version is available.

The Mirror traces its roots to the days of the horse and buggy. George R. Broadbere, a former British sailor, founded the newspaper on May 4, 1882. The subscription rate was 50 cents a year. The World Company of Lawrence has owned and operated the weekly newspaper since September 1999. The current in-county subscription rate is $30 a year.
