Licenses and Permits

Animal License: The City of Tonganoxie requires that dogs and cats be licensed with the city. Only four dogs or cats per residence are allowed. A commercial animal license may be obtained if a resident wants to keep more than four dogs or cats. The dog or cat licensing fee is $15 per animal, with a $5 rebate for spayed or neutered animals. Licenses must be obtained prior to April 30 each year; a $5 late fee is charged after April 30.

Business License: The city of Tonganoxie requires all businesses operating in the city limits to obtain a business license. There is no charge for this license. Both of these licenses can be obtained at City Hall, 321 South Delaware, P.O. Box 326, Tonganoxie KS 66086-0326 (telephone 913-845-2620 or www.tonganoxie.org).

Building Permits: The city of Tonganoxie is zoned. The city uses the 2000 International Building Code for residential, commercial & industrial construction. Building permits are required for all major modifications, interior or exterior; additions; alterations; accessory building construction; or new construction in the city. Application forms requesting Building permits are available for immediate download at www.tonganoxie.org.
